Existing Water Right Information

Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer Office
(DEO) to identifY any potential water availability problems. There are no decreed surface
diversions within this reach of stream. Based on this analysis staff has determined that water is
available for appropriation on Spring Creek, between the confluence of the East & Middle Forks
of Spring Creek and the Kenton Ditch, to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable
degree without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.

CWCB Staff's Instream Flow Recommendation
Staff recommends the Board form its intent to appropriate on the following stream reach:

Seament: East & Middle Forks Spring Creek to Kenton Ditch
Upper Terminus: Confluence East & Middle Forks Spring Creek
(Latitude 380 19' 49"N) (Longitude 107059' 53"W)
UTM ~ 42 46 514N 13 237 926E
SWNWSl7 T47NRIOWNMPM
630' East of West Section Line 1930' South of North Section Line

Lower Terminus: Kenton Ditch
(Latitude 380 23' 23"N) (Longitude 107056' 4T'W)
UTM ~ 42 52 946N 13 242 658E
NE NE S27 T48N RIOW NMPM
140' West of East Section Line 1160' South of North Section Line

Watershed: Uncompahgre (HUC#: 14020006)
Counties: Ouray and Montrose Counties
Length: 5.5 miles
USGS Quad(s): Government Springs, Montrose West
Flow Recommendation: 5.3 cfs (April 1 - June 30)
2.6 cfs (July 1 - July 31)
0.9 cfs (August 1 - March 31)

- 5 -
