Mr. StClpleton: When is the Water Congress meeting?

Mr. Feast: February 27.

Mf. Stapleton: I would like to suggest that Larry talk with the
Governor about this matter. As a matter of procedure, I would like I
to have all of the projects that are affected meet informally with
the board at the Water Congress later this month to see what political
action we can recommend. I think we need to mount n political action
campaign to see if we can get things off dead center. I know it will
be difficult, but I thipk we have to move ahead quickly.

Mr. Hamil: We are completely at a loss as to what to do as far a~ the
Narrows project is concerned.

Mr. Kroeqer: A rather substantial group from southwest Coloraqo ~s
en route to Washington now to meet with our Congressional people to
find out what can be qone. I was hopeful maybe that Governor Love
might have some imPact at the Presidential meeting last week. We
apparently have had no report on that.

Mr. Ten Evck:
but I have the
President.

I can't really give you a very accurate report, Fred,
notion that this subject wasn't discussed with the

Mr. Kroeqer: Well, I think the President with all his ecqnomy really
threw the baby out with the wash water this time.

Mr. Ten Evck: I can't argue with that.

Mr. Stapleton: ~hat I would like to do then is have Larry See whether
or not the Governor would be willing to meet with us on Thursday to
explore the problem, Some of the other boards that might be inter-
ested should get on the intial planning at this Thursday meeting.

I would like to ask that representatives of the various projects meet
with us at a convenient time during the meeting of the Water Congress
to begin to get some ideas formulated and some plans into action; I
gather at this point reclamation is truly dead in Colorado, unless
we begin to move ahead vigorously.

Mr. Sparks: It is not only reclamation.
salinity problem. That covers everything
reclamation or otherwise.

We are being hit by the
in Colorado, whether it's

I

-26-
