CHRISTY: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~~ql <br /> <br />Now if those of us who are interested <br />in the development of our oil shale resources, <br />our coal hydrogenation, our timber resources <br />and all that, do not counteract the influence <br />of these professional wildlifers; it puts our <br />administrative agencies in an impossible posi- <br />tion in trying to defend the multiple use of <br />our forests. I believe that this Board can <br />properly take a strong standm favor of the <br />multiple use of our water resources with uses <br />necessary to the development of our prosper- <br />ity ahead of recreational uses. If there is a <br />problem in water use, it seems to me that we <br />must put the bringing of water for the towns <br />or cities, for farms, for mining, ahead of <br />recreational uses." <br /> <br />"Thank you Mr. Saunders." <br /> <br />"Glenn mentioned that I called his <br />attention to this meeting here in Denver. <br />That came from two sources, the National <br />Reclamation Association and the United States <br />Chamber of Commerce Natural Resources Council. <br /> <br />I might add to what Glenn said that here <br />about two years ago, in the national chambers, <br />some of us interested in water insisted that <br />they get a list of these various wildlife con- <br />servation organizations. Gentlemen, you would <br />be surprised at the interlocking directorate <br />on everyone of those organizations throughout <br />the United States. <br /> <br />I don't know whether it is proper or not, <br />and I am not trying to take Felix's peroga- <br />tive, but this Natural Resources Council was <br />the outgrowth of that Meeting here in Denver <br />and there were people there from California, <br />Arizona, Idaho, Washington, Oregon - allover <br />the west. They have set up an organization <br />which is not a crude thing. They are going <br />to have a small board, they are going to have <br />a board of rules committee similar to the one <br />in the Colorado Congress and it would seem <br />proper to me that this Board ought to have <br />some touch with that group because it may be <br />
