<br />Tile Greeley and Loveland tmgatJOO Company (GUe) is applying (0( a $2.844,000 Small Project Loan
<br />lrom the Consltuclion FU'ld to reconstruct the spillway at lf1e Boyd Lake Dam ,n a new location. The

<br />The Greeley and Loveland Irrigation Company (GLlC), and Its SISler company \tie Seven Lakes
<br />ImgaliOO Company (SUC), own and operate an exlensive system of rese<voirs and canals ~ the
<br />lovelarlCl and Greeley area, GLlC owns -4 reservoirs (including Boyd Lake) and SLlC owns 5
<br />reservoirs (including Horseshoe Lake, Immediately adjacenlto Boyd Lake,) SLlC doeS not have .t$
<br />own delivery system but relies on GLlC to carry its water lC Shareholders. The proposed Boyd Lal<e
<br />Spillway project inVOlves only the GLlC. GLIC and SLIC waler IS used primarily for the Irrigation of
<br />14,000 acres of agriculturaltands in lanme( and Weld countll!S. Over 50% of GLlC water is in
<br />municjpat waler use by !he C,bes of Greeley and Evans

<br />In 1997.98 lhe GL1C oompleled a comprehenSive feasibility study for rehabilllation 01 Iheir water
<br />slorage and dlstnbulion system (inclu.ding SLlC faeM.os), This was done With the help Of a ewcs
<br />$23.400 GomlructiOO FUnd loan, and a $10.000 Small Dam Site granl In November 1997 the
<br />ewcs approved a $308.000 loan to GLlC for thelf highest prionty. Improvements to the outlet and
<br />spillway 01 EqualIzer Dam. The study also identil,ed the pOSSible need for improvements 10 the
<br />Boyd Laktl spilfway. as well as Horseshoe Lake spillway, as both reservoirs baSically operate
<br />Iogethar as a sySlam, GLlC and SUC have been working diligently w,lh the Slate Eng,neef's Offal
<br />(SEO) <wer the past several years to determine the scope of ne~sary spillway improvemel1ls,

<br />Boyd Lake IS tha largest reservoir in the GUC systom. 'Mth a SUlIace area of 1.750 acres and a
<br />capacjly of 48,874 acre.fet.1. The dam is a Class 1 embankment dam and has a he.gllt of 40 f....1.
