Non-Reimburseable Investment <br /> <br />--........-----...-......--..............-----.......------.......--------..----..---....--------..---..........-----........---............----- <br /> <br />Introduction <br />The South Platte Lower River Group (SPLRG) has applied for funding of $150,000 to undertake <br />a pilot demonstration project to assess the possibility of a pUblic/private partnership for <br />managed groundwater recharge on the lower South Platte River. The total project cost is <br />$170,000. Managed groundwater projects are designed to retime flows at the lower end of the <br />South Platte from periods of excess to periods of shortage. Please see the attached project <br />. summary and map. <br /> <br />. The South Platte Lower River GrouD <br />The South Platte Lower River Group, Inc. (SPLRG) Is a coalition of water users and state <br />agencies formed to assist in the development of water management opportunities that will protect <br />and enhance the quantity and quality of water available for current uses. SPLRG projects are also <br />designed to meet new needs such as additional water supplies, improved stream flows, and <br />water-related habitat for wildlife. SPLRG does not own water supply facilities, but provides <br />technical and financial assistance to others. SPLRG has received $375,000 in CWCB grants to <br />date for managed groundwater demonstration projects ($240,000 for the Tamarack Project, and <br />$135,000 for other demonstration projects.) <br /> <br />SPLRG was established in 1996 and is a nonprofit corporation formed through the combined <br />efforts of: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />· Ground Water Appropriators of the South Platte (GASP) <br />· Lower South Plate Water Conservancy District (LSPWCD) <br />. Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District (NCWCD) <br />. Platte River Project (PRP) <br /> <br />These organizations represent the full spectrum of water user interests on the lower South <br />Platte River, and have contributed $100,000 In cash and at least $200,000 in in-kind services to <br />SPLRG since 1996. These organizations plan to continue their financial and in-kind support in <br />future years. The Colorado Water Conservation Board, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and <br />the Colorado Division of Water Resources have participated in SPLRG projects by providing in- <br />kind services, technical support, and funding. <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
