SNODAS Basin Snowpack vs. Basin Stream Discharge: Comparison Between Weekly SNODAS Estimated Snowpack and Discharge The graphs below show the weekly estimated basin SNODAS snowpack and the river discharge at a gage representative of the majority of the applicable basin. Since daily basin snowpack has not been available in the past, the goal of creating these graphs was to see if a correlation could be seen between decreases in snowpack and increases in river discharge. In most cases, these correlations can be seen, with a slight delay between snowpack decrease and an increase in river volume. Although applications for the Bureau of Reclamation's SNODAS data are still being developed, it is already showing itself to be useful, both in creating these graphs, and in providing snowpack information to the CWCB Flood Protection Section for early warning snowmelt flood threat efforts.
