It is anticipated that PRlD's board will review the draft Donation Agreement in April and that <br />the parties will make a formal request to the CWCB to accept the donated water at the Mayor July <br />CWCB meeting. This Donation Agreement will serve as an example of a partnership approach to <br />achieving instream flow protection in the state. <br /> <br />San Juan Recovery Implementation Program Coordination Committee (CC): The Coordination <br />Cornmittee met in Farmington, NM on Feb. 23. <br /> <br />The Program has a new full-time, David Campbell. Mr. Campbell began work on Jan. 23. David <br />currently works for the Snohomish County Department of Public Works in Everett, Washington as a <br />Senior Environmental PlannerlEcologist. <br /> <br />At the meeting, the CC received reports from the Biology and Hydrology Committees, budget updates, <br />discussed extension of the program and the "cap increase" and compliance with "scope of work" issues. <br /> <br />The CC had a discussion on the use of the San Juan Hydrology Model in the Section 7 Consultation <br />process and Joy Nicholopoulos, from the USFWS, agreed to provide further guidance to those involved in <br />the consultation process on how to effectively use the San Juan Recovery Implementation Program. <br /> <br />Native fish are doing well in the San Juan, comprising about 75 percent of the fishery in the San Juan <br />River downstream of Farmington. The Colorado Pikemirmow is the 7th most abundant species and <br />Razorbacks are the 8th. Early estimates indicate between 400 and 800 adult Razorbacks in the River. <br />280,000 juvenile Colorado pikemirmow and 3,000 juvenile Razorbacks were stocked in 2004. <br /> <br />San Juan Chama Settlement Agreement: The City of Albuquerque and environmental groups have <br />signed a settlement agreement regarding the endangered silvery minnow and the city's use of San J uan- <br />Chama water resources. As part of the agreement, litigants in Silvery Mirmow v. Keys agreed to drop any <br />claim on the San Juan-Chama water for minnow purposes, as well as end their protest to Albuquerque's <br />drinking water project and diversion of San Juan Chama water from the Rio Grande. Among other things, <br />the city agreed to provide 30,000 acre-feet of storage at Abiquiu reservoir for minnow and conservation <br />purposes. <br /> <br />SWWCD Seminar: On April 8 the Southwest Water Conservation District will hold its annual water <br />seminar at the Doubletree Hotel in Durango.
