<br />~. <br /> <br />proposed mitigation project impacts, DOLA decided to make up the funding shortfall <br />from existing programs such as the Community Development Block Grant program and ... <br />the Energy Impact Assistance program. DOLA also sought assistance from the CWCB in _ <br />making up the shortfall, if possible. <br /> <br />Currently, the CWCB administers a FEMA-funded grant program for local governments <br />called the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program (FMAP). The purpose of the FMAP is to <br />1) develop local flood hazard mitigation plans, and 2) implement flood mitigation <br />activities which will reduce future flood damages. Thirteen (13) Colorado communities <br />are currently in the process of preparing FMAP applications for the CWCB-administered <br />flood mitigation funds with a deadline of March 16, 1998. Funding for FY 98 will be <br />available from FEMA shortly. These FY 98 funds could be re-programmed and used to <br />make up the HMGP shortfall. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br /> <br />Staff requests that the Board authorize the staff recommendation to re-program these <br />funds for FY 98 "ONLY", if needed.
