Hawkeye Lateral Ditch Company - Hawkeye Lateral Ditch Rehab.

BACKGROUND

A $143,000 loan to the Hawkeye Lateral Ditch Company (HLDC) was approved
in 1997 through SB 97-008 for the rehabilitation of the Hawkeye Lateral Ditch located in
Mesa County, north of Fruita. The terms of the loan were not to exceed 75% of the total
project cost of $490,000 at an interest rate of 3.75% repayable over 30 years. The Grand
Junction office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) designed the
project and a construction contract was awarded to M. A. Concrete Construction, Inc. of
Grand Junction in November 1997. The project includes the construction of
approximately 11,750 linear feet of concrete and PVC pipeline replacing an existing open
concrete ditch in poor condition. Project docwnentation and final accounting is currently
underway with substantial completion scheduled for May 1998.

The docwnentation of the constructed project has resulted in an adjustment of
several bid quantities. The final tabulation of bid quantities increases the total project cost
by $11,112.75. The HLDC has requested an increase to their loan in the amount of
$11,112.75 for a total loan amount of$154,112.75.
