A
brief summary of the studies is presented below.

1. FPR 01-545: City of Dllrango, Colorado, Flood Insurance Study dated May 21,2001 was
prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes detailed floodplain
delineations for the Animas River, Dry Creek Gulch; Junction Creek and Lightner Creek. There
appear to be no major technical problems or issues with the current floodplain mapping.
Community officials were notified of the CWCB's proposed designation action by letter. A
phone meeting on May 7, 2001 between CWCB staff and the local floodplain official was held
to discuss the designation process. The City fully supports CWCB designation and approval of
their latest floodplain information. Therefore, the proposed action for the City of Durango
floodplain infor:mation is designation and approval by the Board in order to meet statutory
requirements.

2. FPR 01-546: Town of Ignacio, Colorado, Flood Hazard Boundary Map dated January 16,
1976 was prepared by the Federal Insurance Administration. It inclUdes approximate floodplain
information for the Los Pinos River (pine River). This map has now been superseded by a
recent detailed floodplain study of the Pine River as produced by the Corps of Engineers,
Albuquerque District. The Town Manager for Ignacio was contacted by staff via telephone on
May 7. 2001 to discuss the designation process and the specific flood hazard information

.

Flood Protection..
