The Staff has received a request from McLaughlin Water Engineers Ltd, on behalf of <br />the South Suburban Park and Recreation District Littleton, Colorado (District), A formal application has <br />been submitted by the District dated February 27, 2002 - (Request letter attached), This request and <br />application will provide the District an easement for the construction of a pedestrian bridge for the Big <br />Dry Creek Trail, which is located in Englewood Colorado, The proposed development site is north of <br />West l3el!eview Avenue, near Union Avenue, across the South Platte River. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The District requests a bridge and trail easement for a crossing of the South Platte River (project) which <br />will cross the CWCB right-of-way, The development site for the District's request is located in <br />Englewood, Colorado, The District's development proposal is subject to the approval by the City of <br />Englewood and District's Board of Directors. The City requires Board action on the easement request <br />prior to their final action, The development does not impact any of the District's recreational features, <br />The District's development site is in the CWC)3 right-of-way limits, CWCB staff conducted a field <br />inspection of the District's request on October 31, 2001. <br /> <br />Use for the Requested Area <br /> <br />The uses for the CWCB land are for the construction of a pedestrian bridge for the Big Dry Creek Trail <br />System in the South Platte River Floodplain. The trail system is a general public development activity, <br />The easement area is 20 feet wide by 250 feet long located across the improved South Platte Channel <br />(River) totaling 5,000 square feet (see attached map). The proposed project is under the design and <br />construction of a professional engineer. A teJIlPorary construction area will be specified for the <br />construction of the bridge and connecting trail system features, The staff fmds that these uses can work <br /> <br />Flood Protection .
