MR. FICKE:

"This is Marston Lake (slide) at the south
edge of town, a part of the south Denver water
supply, and the Marston filter plant is located
over here at the other edge of the lake. This
is the west edge of the lake, Wad~orth Boule-
vard going out here, and here again are the
large crops of rooted vegetation growing on
the western edge of Marston reservoir.

I

The Denver Board -of Water Commissioners
have data on what these plants are and we are
now working on putting these data together
determining what we can pick off these photo-
graphs. Here they don't really project so well
as you can see them when you sit down and look
at them on a light table. Here again, you see
the red pattern of the Pinehurst Country Club
and the golf course.

I have discussed Cherry Creek reservoir
and the recreational aspects of Cherry Creek
reservoir. If you have ever recreated on Cherry
Creek reservoir, you know what it's like. At
least in late summer it contains large algal
growths, or large algal blooms. This (slide)
was a Sunday and apparently there was a sail-
boat race on Cherry Creek reservoir. These
are the sailboats. From here I can see the
little shadows that are cast by the sails of the
boats in the afternoon. You can see several
lines across the water. In fact, you can see
a line that comes across here and then turns
and comes back up here to this sailboat. This
is actually the track that this sailboat has
plowed through the algae in the water as it
sailed down here and then tracked to go back on
its race. This certainly is a good indication
that you have a good biological crop of some
kind or another, growing in Cherry Creek.

I

You can see Cherry Creek reservoir here
again (slide). You can see the growth of
rooted vegetation along the shore, a little
bit of sun glare through here, and even with

-46-
