Supreme Court suit against the Government by Cali- <br />fornia to determine the water rights to the Colorado River. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The Glen Canon Dam is under construction in <br />Northern Arizona, near the Utah border. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The lower basin states have expressed some con- <br />cern over the possibility that a severe drouth might endan- <br />ger power commitments for Hoover Dam users. <br /> <br />They have asked for more definite assurance than <br />they now feel exists that filling of Glen Canon Reservoir <br />will not impede the water source. <br /> <br />Fred G. Aandahl, assistant secretary for water <br />and power, told the governors that technical studies will <br />be starting points and the proof of the advisibility or the <br />shortcomings of any plan to fill the reservoir. <br /> <br />He thinks the lower basin plan, to provide those <br />states with half of all excess waters released into Lake <br />Mead to provide cheap s~rplus power, will not work. <br /> <br />McNichols sided with the government position and <br />said the plan attempts to set up basin operational assump- <br />tions at this time.
