Evans <br />Acting Director, eWeB <br /> <br />April 29, 1998 <br />For Immediate Release <br /> <br />News contact: <br /> <br />Peter Evans <br />(303) 866-3441 <br /> <br />COLORADO RIVER ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED AT STATE WATER POLICY <br />MEETING MAY 11-12 IN GRAND JUNCTION <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Conservation Board meets Monday and Tuesday, May 11-12, at the Grand <br />Vista Hotel (formerly the Ramada Inn), 2700 Crossroads Blvd., in Grand Junction. Much of Tuesday's <br />agenda will focus on Colorado River Basin issues, including negotiations among the seven basin states <br />and 10 Indian tribes, endangered species recovery activities, the Salinity Control Program and proposed <br />federal legislation to transfer Vallecito Reservoir in La Plata county to the Pine River Irrigation District <br />and the federal Bureau oflndian Affairs. <br /> <br />The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday and adjourn at noon for a tour of water-related <br />facilities in the Grand Junction area. The Board is expected to act on floodplain designations for the cities <br />Longmont, Ft. Collins, Greeley and Lyons, and report on the status of flood risks associated with spring <br />runoff The Board will also consider proposed amendments and stipulations to instream flow cases, <br />including a request to inundate a protected segment of Carbon Creek in Gunnison County. Public <br />comment on proposed instream flow appropriations is scheduled from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. <br />The Board will reconvene at 8 a.m. on Tuesday to complete its business agenda.
