The proposal
reflects changes resulting from our discussions in La Junta in January. We have removed aspects
of the earlier proposal related to trends in ground-water storage and use of an existing model to
evaluate alternatives to lower the high water table in the study area. We have added evaluation of
relations between ground-water levels and other hydrologic variables in the study area,

As you will see, we have planned to begin work this summer, but we will need to make water-
level measurements in the study area next spring before irrigation begins, resulting in a draft
report to you next May. If you have any questions about the proposal, please don't hesitate to call
me at 719-544-7155, ex!. 130.

Sincerely,

Doug Cain
Subdistrict Chief

Enclosure:

copy to: Kip Bossong, WRD, Lakewood CO
Ken Watts, WRD, Pueblo CO
Pat Edelmann, WRD, Pueblo CO
District Chief, WRD, Lakewood CO
