MR. ROZICH:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. SPARKS:

Obviously this and its counterpart, air
pollution~- are the hotuest things in state
90vernment and we appreciate this opportunity
to talk to you.

What do you envision from where you sit
as the cooperation needed between your staff,
the staff of this Board and our State Water
Board?"

I

"I think the cooperation we have received
to date from all state agencies has been more
than gratifying. For instance, we did run
into a mercury problem in Navajo Reservoir.
The Game and Fish supplied a man with a
shocking device who went down there and picked
up fish for us to sample. The Water Conserva-
tion Board, I think we have worked quite
closely with not only Mr. Sparks and with Mr.
Kuiper here and his people. In fact, I have
a request down in their office right now. So
I think we have had close cooperation and I
hope it continues. I am sure it will."

"Maybe Larry would have a comment while
you are still here about his thoughts on this
area. It

"From our viewpoint we have received every
possible cooperation from the State Health
Department and the Water Pollution control
Commission. As a part of our regular program
in cooperation with the Geological Survey.
we operate certain sampling stations through-
out the state for the purpose of determining
water quality. This is in the dissolved solid
field and not in the organic pollution field.
Those reports are published and become avail-
able to the Water Pollution Control commission.

We have problems occurring that the Gover-
nor and the legislature have shown particular
interest in, such as the Rocky Mountain
Arsenal. We always call in Mr. Rozich or mem-
bers of his staff to participate with us in
any discussions concerning pollution control.

I
