A contract with Brown and Caldwell for $125,000 was let in <br />1999. Draft fact sheets were produced and revisions are underway. Final fact sheets are expected <br />by the end of2000. The remaining funds wiil be used to pay for basin planning meetings and <br />future planning materials. . <br /> <br />South Platte River Decision Support System <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 <br />Water Source: South Platte River <br />Location: South Platte Basin <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $100,000 <br />Project Type: Decision Support Systm <br />Project Manager: Randy Seaholm <br /> <br />The South Platte Decision Support System (SPDSS) is in the initial feasibility stage. Consultants <br />haye been selected and the feasibility study is underway. This document will be the basis for <br />determining the cost and time period to accotllplish a decision support system in the Platte River <br />and Republican River basins. <br /> <br />San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District - Rio Grande Headwaters Restoration Project <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 Grant Amount: $200,000 <br />Water Source: Rio Grande River Project Type: Multi-Objective Study <br />Location: Alamosa upstream to South Fork Project Manager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />This project involves the preparation of a Multi-Objective study for the Rio Grande from South <br />Fork downstream to the Alamosa/Conejos County line (downstream of Alamosa). The river has <br />been experiencing problems related to interstate compact delivery requirements, distribution of <br />irrigation water through diversion structure~ riparian habitat, flood protection and channel <br />conveyance capacity. The study will determitte specific probiems, locations of those problems, <br />causes of the problems and alternatives for mitigating the river probiems. The study will kick off <br />on September 18, with a public meeting in Monte Vista at which property owners and others will <br />describe the problems with which they are familiar and the consultant team will describe its <br />project approach. Completion of the project is anticipated in July 2001. <br /> <br />Doul!las County Water Authority S. Metro Area Project Manager: Bill Green <br /> <br />The Douglas County Water Resource Authority (DCWRA) is partnering with the Denver Water <br />Board and the Colorado River Water Conservation District to conduct a study of the water <br />supply needs c:ifthe southern portion of the DellVer metropolitan area. The purpose of the study is <br />to examine and propose water supply strategies that meet the near-term and long-term water <br />needs of Authority members in a way that delays and minimizes the need to import additional <br />
