Weld County site, when you consider that an
additional 55,000 acres can be served, the
total cost per acre served is materially
reduced. These additional 55,000 acres can
be brought into the project from the Weld
County site at a relatively nominal amount
per acre as compared to the cost per acre of
serving land from the Narrows site.

These factors are so vital and important
to this community, and to the economy and
efficient use of water in the state of Colo-
rado as a whole, that a decision for the
Narrows site as against the Weld county site
cannot be accepted. Gentlemen, if this is the
decision of this Board, that is, to put the
location at the Narrows and thus destroy 10,000
acres of irrigated land in Morgan County in the
Weldon Valley and effectively foreclose for
generations the opportunities of the Bijou
Irrigation system and Riverside Irrigation
System of obtaining additional and supplemental
water which they need, then it will not be
accepted, and if need be, resisted to the point
where it will be argued and resisted before the
Appropriations Committee of the Congress of
the united states. We do not believe that the
Congress of this united states will appropriate
money for such a discriminatory, impractical
and costly project when another more feasible,
more inclusive and economical project can be
built a few miles up the river.

There is only one point of location where
unanimity in the lower South Platte River
could be obtained. That is at the weld County
site. If this site is selected, all of the
people on the lower South Platte can obtain a
beneficial use and unite together and support
the project. If the Weld County site is not
selected, the matter will need to be ultimately
resolved when the project comes up for monies
in Congress, and you mqy be assured that some-
one will be present to enlighten the Appropria-
tions Committee of Congress.'
