Morgan, Sedgwick, and Weld Counties, Colorado'
has been approved for release to the open-file
and it also can be inspected at the office of
the State Water Board or at the Public Inquir-
ies Office or at our Ground Water Office at the
Federal Center.

"I do not believe that we have representa-
tives of the Corps of Engineers either from
Omaha or Albuquerque at the meeting, although
they have both submitted written reports. will
you highlight anything you think we should
emphasize at the meeting on these two reports,
Larry?"

"I think the most significant thing as far
as the Albuquerque office is concerned is the
project in the vicinity of Las Animas, the Las
Animas Floodway, a project which will cost a
little in excess of $1 million. That project
is moving along and there is a possibility that
the Corps will request authorization of that
project next year in an omnibus bill. I thiru<
we will, within a short time, come up with a
project in the Las Animas area. This was
occasioned primarily by John Martin Reservoir
raising the level of the river in the vicinity
of Las Animas. Because of the sediment deposits
a flood hazard has been created in the vicinity
of Las Animas and it will take channelization,
some levees, and protective works in the vicin-
ity of Las Animas to afford that city protection.
