<br />Drought Main <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br /> <br />Drought <br /> <br />NEW <br /> <br />On August 25, 2004, the Board of Water Commissioners <br />declared a Stage 1 (voluntary compliance) Drought <br />Response, relaxed restrictions, and ended drought <br />surcharges for both water usage and new taps. These <br />chanaes are effective September 1, 2004. <br /> <br />Our water supply has been stabilized and improved by wet local weather and customer <br />efforts to conserve. Although this does not mean the end of the drought that plagues <br />the Western states, conditions are promising enough to allow some easing of drought <br />restrictions and surcharges. Specifically, <br /> <br />. Stage 1 declared (voluntary compliance). <br />· Drought rate surcharges are terminated effective August 31 , 2004. <br />· Drought tap surcharges are terminated effective August 26, 2004. <br />· Existing rules on water conservation are amended to prohibit watering of turf <br />between 10 AM and 6 PM, May 1 - September 1. <br />· Rebate proaram deadlines extended to September 30, 2004. <br /> <br />Modified Water Use R!!1n Begin September 1, 2004 <br />Water use restrictions are designed to maintain the civic and economic life of <br />customers until this drought is over and our reservoirs return to their pre-drought levels. <br />Voluntary compliance will help ensure continued water supplies, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Lawn Watering <br />Beginning September 1, 2004, there is no mandatory lawn watering schedule, but all <br />watering should avoid wasting water as defined in Section 12.01 of the Operating <br />Rules.
