Ireland, Attorr.ey at Lsw, Denver <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Governor lee Knous, <br />at 10:30 a.m. on 1'l1ursday, August 14. 1947. <br /> <br />Governor Knous opened the meeting with a preliminary statement. <br />He announced the.t ha he.d appointed Dan B. Hunter of Dove Creek, Colo- <br />rado, as a rrembar of the Colorado Water Conservation Board to represent <br />Southwestern Colorado. This appoint!llSnt was m8de to fill s v.cancy <br />caused by the death of John B. O'Rourke. It appeared that 1'r. Hunter <br />had subscril: ad to the oa th of offic e, which had been filed wi th the <br />Secretary of State, and th.t, accordingly, he had fully qualified to <br />assume tta posi tio n of a lJ'ember of the Board. <br /> <br />Thereupon, the Governor call ed 8ttention to Chapter 332, Session <br />Laws of Coloredo of 1947 providing for staggered terms of office for <br />the members of the Board. It directed that, within sixty days from the <br />effective date of the Act, there shall be a determim,tion by lot, under <br />suparvi s1 on of the Governor, of threQ members to s erV13 a term of one year, <br />three to serve a term of two year s. snd three to serve a tenn of three <br />year s. <br /> <br />The Governor reported thet Le had proceeded in accordance wi th the <br />Act and the deterl'lination b'r lot had resulted in terms of office of the <br />appointive members, 9ffecti~e from l/sy 12, 1947, as follows: <br /> <br />Three year term . <br /> <br />. . . . . . <br /> <br />Silmon Smith <br />L. Bailey for Vice-Chairman. <br />This nomination was seconded by J. 1'. Dille. Upon rotion duly made, <br />carried ar.d declared passed, nominations were closed, and George J. <br />Bail ey v'as declared unanimousl)! elected as Vice-Chairman to serve un- <br />til the first meeting of the Board following May 12, 191p. <br />
