reconmended by "the Director of the Board be approved and
adopt ed .

carried and declared adopted.

The Director eal led attention to the Salary Ad passed by the
last legisla ture and explained thet under the provisions of this Act
the Board was in a better posi tion to fill v sceneie s on the engineering
staff'. He stated that active steps .'ere under way to _uloy members of
_-----.--l(he engineering steff who were ~'ell-qua1ified to fill .vacancies which
had existed for sev9ral months due to the war and conditi,Cfls thereafter
making the employment of engineeri ng personnel di fficult.

JJiscu ssion ensued concerning various projects such as the Pine
River Project and "the proposal for the Pine River Extensionpand
adjustment of repayment obligatims of the water users under that
project. The Director stated that he had urged the completion 0 f the
Pine River Extension report; and !fr. Larson, Director of Region 4.
Bureau of Reclamation, annro nced th at the report wou Id be ready in
"bout sixty days. ffe stated that as soon as that report was completed
another meeting would be held l"ith the inter9sted groups in Durango
when it would be advisable for the Director or other Board staff
members to be present.

The meeting adjourned at 1:10 r.Il.. August 15. 1947
