presently being stored. The reservoir now
contains about 370,000 acre-feet of water.
Work proceeds on completion of the power-
plant and installation of the generators.
Both of these generators are expected to be
operating this spring.

At Morrow point Dam, this structure has
recently received mention by the National
Society of professional Engineers in its
selection of outstanding engineering achieve-
ments in 1966. It was pointed out that this
double curvature dam and the underground
powerplant was the first of this type of
structures built in the united States.

The contractor at Morrow Point Dam and
powerplant has completed about 78 percent of
his work. Mass concrete placements in Morrow
Point Dam, discontinued last October, will be
resumed as soon as the weather permits. It
is expected that the dam will be topped out
this summer. other work at Morrow Point has
continued through the winter. The contractor
has completed excavation of the stilling
basin area downstream from the dam and is now
making concrete placements in this area. In
the underground powerplant the contractor has
made the final placement of concrete and has
started a general cleanup. We expect to
award the powerplant completion contract late
in 1967. The first generator at Morrow Point
should be operating in the spring of 1969 and
the second early that summer.

The third dam of the Curecanti unit,
crystal Dam and powerplant, we believe now,
under the present program, we will be able
to start this unit late in the fall of 1968.

On the Navajo Unit in New Mexico, repair
and modification of the outlet works stilling
basin is expected to get under way this fall.
The stilling basin will be unwatered this
spring by separate contract in order that
prospective bidders may inspect the work
