Jones: It has been presented at the departmental level. With the <br />statements that we received this is a copy of the transcript of the <br />hearing in Vernal. There is one from the hearing in Craig. This was <br />considered in the final preparations. It is now back in Washington. <br />The environmental statement was revised taking all the comments into <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Mr. Stapleton: And then from there it goes - just review for us the <br />steps after that. What happens? <br /> <br />Mr. Jones: It will go before the Congress. <br /> <br />!-Jr.:. Stapleton: And that is years away? Five years? <br /> <br />Ftr. Jones: No'~ it has to be completed by September 3, 1974. It was <br />ten years from enactment of the Wilderness Act. So it has to be <br />completed by September 3. <br /> <br />~tr. Vandemoer: What would be different after the wilderness is estab- <br />lished than now? <br /> <br />Mr. Jones: For one thing, it would prevent first the administrators <br />in the future from blacktopping, manipulating and changing the area. <br /> <br />Ftr. Vandemoer: They can do that now? <br /> <br />l"lr. Jones: Yes. <br /> <br />Ftr. Moses: What impact, if any, does it have on the use of say the <br />Yampa or the Green water? <br /> <br />!-Jr. Jones: I think none. Am I right? <br /> I <br />Nr. Ten Evck: Nr.
