Walker <br />Director <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Members, CWCB <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Randy Seaholm <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 21, 1991 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Agenda Item 13, May 30-31, 1991, Board Meeting-- <br />Lakewood's Request for a Temporary Storage Account in Bear Creek <br />Reservoir fLake <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />On August 21, 1990, the City of Lakewood requested the Board's support for <br />a temporary (I-year) lease of up to 200 acre feet of space at no cost to the City from <br />the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Bear Creek Lake. The City would hold water <br />in the space to use primarily as a reserve to meet any extraordinary water demands <br />during construction of its proposed Fox Hollow Golf Course at Bear Creek Lake Park. <br />The City assumed responsibility for the development of recreational facilities from the <br />Corps by agreements dated August, 1982. Prior to that time the State had an <br />agreement with the Corps for development of recreational facilities at the Park. The <br />City's lease runs for 50-years. <br /> <br />At the Board's September 10-11, 1990, meeting the Board approved <br />Lakewood's request subject to the following conditions: <br /> <br />A. Such temporary storage would not adversely impact in any way the <br />curre:lt stud'es and negotiations among the eight entities for the <br />permanent use of space in Bear Creek Lake. <br /> <br />B. The current recreational purposes of the park would not be adversely <br />impacted. <br />
