BREITENSTEIN: Of course, the State of Colorado ls <br />interested in the development along the North Platte Hiver <br />because of the many years of litigation involving that stream. <br />That litigation was the suit brought by Nebraska against <br />Wyoming. Colorado was brought in ae a defendant and the <br />United States intervened. A decree was entered by the United <br />Statee Supreme Court in 1945 which placed restrictions upen <br />water uses ift North Park here 1n Colorado. . 'rhere was a limi- <br />tation of 135 aores on the amount of land which could be <br />irrigated in Colorado, a limitation, I believe, of 18,600 acre <br />feet on the amount of water which could be stored, and a limit <br />on expansion ln the Park of 68,000 acre teet in anyone ten- <br />year period. <br />'!hroughout, Colorado strenuously obJ ected to the entry <br />of any affirmative decree.
