Flood Control <br />Authorization Bill which Was recently passed by the Congress. <br />The South Platte Flood Oontrol Project conslsts of the Chatfield <br />. Dam, ohannel1zat1on down to a point near the Weld County 11ne <br />and some channel rectlflcat10n below that point. <br />Thls project Was included, 11'1 the Authorizat1on B11lby <br />the Senate 11'1 the last sesslon of Oongress but was rejected <br />by the House. This year it was accepted 11'1 both the House and <br />the Senate and approved in the conference oommlttee. The <br />project is now authorized for construction. Oonstruction can <br />not commence immed1ately because it reqa1resappropriations, <br />and none 11111 be undertaken before appropriations for the <br />flsoal year beglnnlng July 1, 1951. . <br />Sincs that proJect was proposed, the Water Board ap- <br />pointed a special CODlDlUtes to review the report. That oom- <br />mittee made oertain recoDlDlendations as to ohange 11'1 plans, <br />largely for the p11rpose of protec1iing irr1gation U8s down- <br />stream. The Army Engineers accepted all of the recommendations <br />of thls Board and included them 11'1 their final report. <br />The members of the Board who were at the December meet"; <br />
