Authorization Bill which Was recently passed by the Congress.
The South Platte Flood Oontrol Project conslsts of the Chatfield
. Dam, ohannel1zat1on down to a point near the Weld County 11ne
and some channel rectlflcat10n below that point.
Thls project Was included, 11'1 the Authorizat1on B11lby
the Senate 11'1 the last sesslon of Oongress but was rejected
by the House. This year it was accepted 11'1 both the House and
the Senate and approved in the conference oommlttee. The
project is now authorized for construction. Oonstruction can
not commence immed1ately because it reqa1resappropriations,
and none 11111 be undertaken before appropriations for the
flsoal year beglnnlng July 1, 1951. .
Sincs that proJect was proposed, the Water Board ap-
pointed a special CODlDlUtes to review the report. That oom-
mittee made oertain recoDlDlendations as to ohange 11'1 plans,
largely for the p11rpose of protec1iing irr1gation U8s down-
stream. The Army Engineers accepted all of the recommendations
of thls Board and included them 11'1 their final report.
The members of the Board who were at the December meet";
