The eyetem was constructed In
1978, and wa,ter Is obtained tI1rough tI1e Duks Ditch, which diverts water from Laroux Creek. Water
Is supplied to about 95 resldentlallots and a Town pari<. The totallrrigsted area Is about 60 aallS,
and pMmaI1ly use Is to Irrigste lawns and gardsns. The system consists of s headgate,
spproxlmately 8000 lineal feet of main dlstributlon piping (10", 8~ and 6"), and approxlmstely 3000
feet of lateral piping. Wster flows by gravity end lots are served by Yo" IndMdual taps. The system
was Installed In the trench above the aanttary sewer and on the same grade. In places tt Is very
deep, up to 15-17 feet. The oMglnsl piping was a IIghtwelghtplastlc pipe, and Improper bsckfllllng
resulted In crushed pipes In some areas, end significant plugging problems. As a resutl of tI1e
blockagss, and reduced flow dua to minerai dSposlts, the overall flow capacity Is less than 1/3 of
the oMglnal. The system Is completely obstructed In two plecas, and typically only 12 to 14 use..
can be served st a lime. The project Includes Instalilng all new dlstributlon lines and lataral tap
lines, along w!1h cieanouts end isolation valves; The new pipes will be Installed over the top of the .
existing system but at a standard depth of 22 - 30'. The piping will be heevler PVC, located above
the existing pipe, but offsel several feet to eliminate sewer manhole conflicts. .;

"

.

,
,-----
, 'HotchkiRl.
I IBM 5300
I
,
,I.
......,

, \~
~

.

Location Map
