This data is available on CD
and via the Web. The Web interface was upgraded to
be consistent with current CWCB and DWR
standards.

.io Grande River Basin
Development of the RGDSS is now in the final year
of a three-year, $4,983,000 effort. Most of the tools

and models for RGDSS have been developed or are
near completion. The exception is the ground water
model that will require an additional year of
development. The following list summarizes the
status of the RGDSS components:
. The Consumptive Use and Water Budget contract
is 100 percent complete.
Irrigated acreage mapping was finalized and an
assessment of historic crop consumptive use
completed. A water budget model was completed
this year, and water budget analyses performed
for the Rio Grande Basin and the San Luis Valley
groundwater model area.
. The Surface Water contract is approximately 85
percent complete,
The major work performed in 2001 included the
monthly-calculated model and the initiation of the
daily modeling. Monthly surface water modeling
has been completed, and documentation is
available on the website. The major tasks
remaining include (a) completing daily surface
water modeling, (b) a planning scenario model
application, and (c) incorporating revised ground
water model results for return flow timing into
the surface water model.
. The Ground Water contract is also approximately
85 percent complete.
Fifteen monitoring wells have been installed and
tested, and a groundwater data collection
summary report was completed (Documentation
is available on the website.). Extensive work was
performed this year on both the steady state and
average monthly groundwater modeling. Draft
versions of these models are nearly complete,
with model development documentation available
on the Web. Major tasks remaining include (a)
updating the hydrogeologic database and previous
modeling with new aquifer parameter values and
(b) fully transient monthly modeling.
. Both the Relational System Integration and the
Spatial System Integration contracts are
approximately 90 percent complete.
Ground water information and associated viewing
tools have been added to the database,
HydroBase. Data management interfaces have
been developed that allow daily data to flow
seamless1y from HydroBase to the Surface Water
model. GIS coverages have been developed that
include but are not limited to topography,
hydrography, county boundaries, public land
survey boundaries, highways, water districts, and
gage locations.
