<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />S4- <br /> <br />PROPOSAL <br /> <br />To be incorporated into the NATIVE SPECIES CONSERVATION TRUST FUND <br />SPECIES CONSERVATION ELIGffiILITY LIST, Fiscal Year 2000-2001 <br />To be submitted by the Executive Director, Department of Natural Resources, to the Colorado General <br />Assembly pursuant to House Bill 98-1006 <br /> <br />A) <br /> <br />Scopes of Division of Wildlife Services and Tasks <br /> <br />1. Project Description: Upper Colorado River Non-native Fish Control (Priority #1) <br />Project Coordinator: Tom Nesler <br />The purpose of this project is to reduce the abundance and distribution of threatening non- <br />native fish species so that they will not impede the recovery of the Colorado River <br />endangered fishes. <br /> <br />Proiect Tasks/Deliverables and Associated Costs: <br />Design and construct projects to isolate nonnative fish species near Grand Junction. <br />Elements include isolating berms to accommodate the 50-year flood level to prevent <br />escapement of the non-native fish into riverine native fish populations and intake structure(s) <br />if needed to meet regulatory requirements. <br /> <br />Costs for all tasks related to this project (1) shall not exceed $ 325,000 from the Native <br />Species Conservation Trust Fund. <br /> <br />AGENCY P AA. PROJECT NUMBER 0820 <br /> <br />2. Project Description: Protect and Mana!!e Preble's Meadow Jumpin!! Monse Habitat in <br />Coninnction with the Habitat Conservation Plans (Priority #3) <br />Project Coordinator: Gary Skiba <br />The purpose of this project is to preserve and protect important Preble's Meadow Jumping <br />Mouse (PMJM) habitats through the acquisition of options and to see the planning process <br />for affected counties to completion. <br /> <br />Proiect Tasks/Deliverables and Associated Costs: <br />$200,000 from the Fund will be used for the Division of Wildlife (DOW) with the consent <br />of the Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), to purchase <br />options, leases or easements on properties that enhance, preserve, restore and protect lands <br />which support or can be managed to support the PMJM and which will likely contribute to <br />eventual recovery of the species. In addition, $50,000 from the Fund will be used to match <br />with anticipated federal funds for the collaborative planning process for affected counties. It <br />is anticipated that these funds will help complete the planning process for developing county <br />habitat conservation plans. Cost: $250.000. <br /> <br />Costs for all tasks related to this project (2) shall not exceed $ 250,000 from the Native <br />Species Conservation Trust Fund. <br /> <br />AGENCY PAA, PROJECT NUMBER 0662 <br />
