INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Snowmass-Capitol Creek Caucus (Caucus), American Rivers, Sierra dub, <br />Ferdinand Hayden Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Aspen Wilderness Womshop, <br />Roaring Fork Chapter of the Audubon Society, Windstar Land Conservancy, and <br />High Country Citizens Alliance (collectively, Petitioners) 1 petition the Corps of <br /> <br />1 The Snowmass-Capitol Creek Caucus is a non-profit organization comprised of <br />citizens of the Snowmass, Colorado, area. American Rivers is a national conservation <br />organization whose mission is the preservation of the country's rivers and streams. <br />In 1994, American Rivers named Snowmass Creek one of the nation's most <br />endangered rivers due to diversions from the Creek for snowmaking and other <br />consumptive uses. Sierra Club is a national conservation organization comprised of <br />600,000 individuals dedicated to land, water and wildlife preservation. The mission <br />of the Ferdinand Hayden Chapter of Trout Unlimited is to "conserve, protect, and <br />restore trout fisheries and their watersheds" located in the Roaring Fork and Eagle <br />River Valleys, where Snowmass Creek lies. Aspen Wilderness Workshop is a non- <br />profit organization composed of citizens of the Roaring Fork Valley dedicated to <br />preserving the area's outstanding natural resources. Roaring Fork Audubon Society <br />is a regional citizens' organization dedicated to preservation and enjoyment of the <br />wildlife and habitat of the Roaring Fork River valley, of which Snowmass Creek is a <br /> <br />1 <br />
