<br />T~e IDult!purpose project wou14 develop water of th~
<br />Gunnison River. a !l1ajor tributary vf the Colorado
<br />River. for hydroelectric power, nwnicipal and
<br />li&ht industrial ~se~ recreation. and fish and
<br />,dldlife enh:lncement. The proposed project plan
<br />has been developed in accordance ....jth the Principles
<br />and Standards for Planning Water and Related Land
<br />Resources developed by the Water Resources Council.

<br />
<br />The Do~inguez Reservoir Project was. authorized for
<br />investigation by the Water Resource Developments,
<br />Fe~sibility Studies Act of October 27, 1972 (Public
<br />Law 92-577).
<br />
<br />Feasibility Invest!gat!cns ~ere initiated in Jan-
<br />uary 1975 with the fQr~~ion of the multiobjective
<br />planning (MOP) tca~. The team has studied a multi-
<br />tucc cf alternatives in the planning process.
<br />Th~se alternatives ~i]l be discussed in the feasi-
<br />bility report and the environmental impact state-
<br />ment. rl'U:' of the alternatives have been chosen
<br />ior pres€nt~tion a~ candidate plans in the project

<br />end~r year 1982. The draft environmental impact

<br />roa~ental inpact statement in ~idcalendar year
<br />198~.

<br />The FY 82 appropriations include $100,000 for
<br />continued investi~ations.

<br />Two development plans are currently being reviewed
<br />by the State of Colorado and the Mesa County Domin-
<br />guez Reservoir Advisory Council, The draft feasi-
<br />bility report will p~p.sent the details or these two
<br />plan~. as ~ell as two other candi~ate plans and g
<br />no-actien alternative. The plaa currently favored
<br />by the Advisory Council eliminates ?eaking p~Jer
<br />as a project purpose and adds a sig~ificantly
<br />larger co~ponent of Dunicipal 2~d ind~strial water
<br />(about 200.000 acre-feet). The ~!u~id.p!ll and In-
<br />dustrial Water Plan co~pares wi:h the previously
<br />Teccmrnended Peaking Power Plan as follows:
