WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil
Conservation Service, completed in January, 1976, a floodplain
information report entitled "Flood Hazard Analyses, Portions of
Red Canyon Draw and Tributaries, Fremont County, Colorado"; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested
by the Board of County Commissioners of Fremont County, by
resolution adopted January 14, 1976, approved and designated the
floodplains described in said report; and

WHEREAS, a new report entitled "Floodplain Information
Report, NE Canon Drainage Area, Canon City, Colorado," dated
October, 1981, has been prepared by Great Divide Engineering &
Surveying at the request of the City of Canon City, Fremont
'County, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board, which report
updates and revises the previous information for the stream known
today as NE Canon Drainage; and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the City of Canon City has requested the Colorado
Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain
areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS,
1973, requires
the prevention

Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board; and
