0. . C'

pumping and transmission facilities to convey the raw water to

the existing treatment plant. The estimated cost of the project

is $3,290,000.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
----

At the current populat ion level, ex ist ing raw water storage

facilities can provide just enough water to users in a normal

year. If a dry year occurs, the town could not meet the normal

water demands of the users. The new storage reservoir would

alle,iate this problem.

The town has a limited financial capability for water system

improvements of this magnitude. The recommended funding for this

project is as follows:

Town of Erie (Revenue bonds)

$1,645,000

State Funds (to be repaid by water

users fees)

1,645,000

Total

$3,290,000

Under this financing drrangement, charges would be levied by th~

Stdte at the rate of $ 107,007 per year for 30 years for a total

repayment of $3,210,210. The average water charge is $25 per

month no>>. With th is project, it is dnt icipated the a\erage

monthly charge will increase to $32 by about 1955.

.3-
