~

,
;;

criteria will be offered the opportunity to sign a participation agreement and become pal1
of the study.

e

The historic water use records for all sites will be examined to detemline if there is any
correlation between their outdoor use and ET. In many cases there will be none. Ifwe
find an acceptable correlation using at least 5 years of historic data then it will be used to
correct water use in the study year to establish an adjusted baseline against which to asses
savings. If there is no correlation found then the savings will be assessed against the
average outdoor use on the site. Each site included in the study will have its historic
monthly baseline water use tabulated for use in evaluating the results during the study.

The goal will be to have 100 sites selected by the end of April.

Task 3: Install Systems

The installation of the ET Signal Controllers will take place on an ongoing basis as
customers subscribe to the program. This will allow the subscription to proceed in step
with the installation, and to meet the goal of having 100 sites up and running by the start
of the 2000 irrigation season (May I). The installation will be done by Aquacraft. All of
the old irrigation clocks will be boxed and given to the owners to store. At the end of the
test if the owners elect to terminate, or the system ceases operation the old controller will
be reinstalled by Aquacraft.

e

Task 4: Ongoing Evaluation

All of the water meters will be read by the utility on a monthly basis, and copies of the
reading will be provided to Aquacraft promptly. The water use at each site will be
tracked over the course of the summer and total and unit applications will be determined.
These will be compared to theoretical requirements based on ET and against the adjusted
baseline water use.

Each system will be visited at least twice during the irrigation season for routine
inspection of the landscape. Owners will be asked to report any problems with the
system or complaints directly to Aquacraft. These will be dealt with as they come up in
consultation with the owners and their landscape contractors. Problems relating to poor
coverage due to improper head selection or locations will not be considered a fault of the
ET'system, but will be noted for correction by the owner as practical. For example if
there are areas which are poorly covered it may be necessary to wait to install additional
heads or valves until the following year.

Task 5: Final Report and Evaluation of Savings

A final report will be prepared listing the performance of each system in the study with
detailed reports of problems and errors caused by the ET Signal Control system, and how

e

6
