I

I

. .
have. We must realistically think of the immortal words of Lou Sabin
"a half a loaf," I am afraid.

Mr. Stapleton: Oh my, that Lou Sabin reference: I would like to
bring you up to date on one encouraging aspect of the meeting. We
have received a resolution from the Five Projects' Council this
morning in which representatives of some of the projects, the Dallas
Creek, Dolores, Animas-La Plata, San Miguel, and West Divide, have
set forth the priority that they have agreed to among themselves.
This will be very helpful in winding this up.

Governor Love: It is very helpful and I congratulate those people on
that kind of statesmanship. I appreciate that very much. You can
be assured that in our session next week and in the weeks and months
ahead that we will be fighting as hard as we know how to get at least
some funding that will keep the projects alive. I think Larry has
said that we have a patient that can stand some surgery at the present
time, but we can't afford to walk away and let him die. That is
the last thing in the world we want to happen.

Mr. Stapleton: Thank you very much, Governor Love.

Governor Love: Thank you very much.

Mr. Stapleton: Are there any more questions on the Dallas Creek proj-
ect from members of the board?

Mr. Pickrel: Are there any wells of any type in the Montrose area?

Mr. Austin: There are three test wells.

Mr. Stapleton: Any further questions from the board? Any of the
audience have any questions on the Dallas Creek project? Then we
will go on to the Dolores project. Jack Kinkade will make that pre-
sentation.

Mr. Posey: Mr. Chairman, may I just have a moment here?

Mr. Stapleton: Yes.

!1r. Posey: Mr. Chairman and members of the board, we have here a
petition that came in the last three days before we knew we were to
come up here. This was sort of a spontaneous thing from our local
area. Our district did not sponsor this, but we certainly endorsed it.

-28-
