Water Information Program
SWSI IPP Database
Water Use Data Compliance

Totals

$100,000 $ 0
$ 50.000 $ 45.000
$2.144.500 $840.000

.

C. Fiscal Year 2007 - 2008 Requests

The following is a summary of the requests we received from constituents and developed internally.

Water Supply Protection Program

1. Statewide Water Planning and Local Water Planning Grants

Beneficiary/Grantee/Contractor: CWCB, Various
Amount of Request: $150,000

Rankiug:

High

Product Produced: We will continue to use the money to address local needs for planning assistance
that directly related to implementing the CWCB's Strategic Plan, the Drought Assessment, and the
Statewide Water Supply Initiative. The CWCB's Statewide Water Supply Initiative will result in a list
of alternatives ranked in order of priority. These funds will be used, in part, to help entities that have
developed an alternative, but need to do further study regarding feasibility. The funds will also be used
to get cooperative efforts "off the ground."

Water Planning Relationship: The SWSI process has highlighted the need for funds to support local
planning efforts. This need is expected to continue. e

Recommendation: Staff gives a high recommendation to funding of this project because the
information produced and made available will provide a consistent, factual basis for local and statewide
water planning efforts.

2. Groundwater Resource Mapping Program

Beneficiary/Grantee/Contractor: Colorado Geological Survey, Various
Amount of Request: $25,000 Ranking:

Medium

Product Produced: The purpose of this program is to collect and map groundwater resource data on a
scale that is useful for local planning and decision-making.

Counties, municipalities, water supply districts, conservation districts, and private entities need details
about the groundwater resources in their area. This information is essential for planning efforts and
informed decision making related to the local groundwater resource. Mapping 7.5' quadrangles at a
1 :24,000 scale (1 inch= 2,000 feet) provides the necessary detail.

Groundwater resource mapping will build on recent geologic mapping within the Denver Basin of
Douglas County of the selected quadrangles and groundwater mapping of the adjacent quadrangles of
Dawson Butte and Castle Rock South by CGS. This study will provide the following on each quad:
water well distribution map, water level map, well yield data, depth/elevation map of aquifer nnits, .
spring location map, aquifer descriptions, and a summary report.

4
