We lost almost 3 miles of fence, and had over 400 acres of crop and pasture land
totally inundated by the flood waters, A tremendous amount of silt, trash, logs, brush, etc" was left in our
fields as the waters receded Because of this, the balance of the project we were worldng on for the
Excelsior Ditch came to a standstill,

When we applied for the original loan, we anticipated completing ourselves any work needed above the
original $230,000 we were borrowing" Due to the financial pressure caused by the flood and the ensuing
loss of crop revenue, we are not now able to compete that final portion of the work,

The remaining work involved includes the completion of the south Excelsior lateral and necessary
culverts, installation of five headgates off the main canal for flood irrigated fields, installation of one
culvert in the main ditch for access, construction of the 35th Lane washout facility, and a few
miscellaneous items,

e

Our anticipated cost of completing this work is $35,500, Seventy-five percent of that would amount to
$26,625, I believe we have approximately $5,500 left on the existing funds, so we are asking if it would
be posstble to receive additional funding to complete all the remaining work on the Excelsior project, in
the amount of$21,125,

We are currently involved in trying to complete all the necessary cleanup in our fields and replacing our
fencing and anticipate that the majority of this winter will be committed to that. Therefore, although we
had intended to complete the entire Excelsior project this wiuter, it may not be possible to accomplish that
before next fall,

We are hoping that you can assist us in this matter and please advise on how we should proceed,

Sincerely,

t'.? ~

C,R Evans
Excelsior Irrigating Company

e
