These settlement agreements provide thai <br />the tribes' water rights are part of the allocations made to the respcctive slates pursuant to <br />the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact. Congress has approved scnlement agreements <br />resolving the waler right claims of the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes in <br />Colorado and the Jicarilla Apache Nation in New L\lexico. Introduction of legisl.ltion to <br />gpprove a 2005 settlement agreemenl that would resolvc the walcr richt claims of the <br />Navaio Nation in New ~te.\ico was aJlIicipaled in 2006. <br /> <br />This Program is intended 10 provide the mcans for conserving the populations of <br />Colorado pikeminnow and razorback suckerenduRgere-d lish S!~ in the San Juan <br />River Basin while waler development proceeds consistent with applicable laws. The <br />order in which water development occurs may not neccssarily reflcct the priority of the <br />water rights.
