MR. TWEEDY:

"Mr'. Chairman, Nr. Sparks, members of the
Board, ladies and gentlemen, I am John Tweedy,
attorney for the Colony Development Company.
There is with me here today Mr. Gene Young,
assistant to the President of Colony Develop-
ment Company, and Mr. Jim Mosley.

The contract that we are concerned with
today has been described in the letter of ~~.
Berg to Mr. Sparks dated March 17, 1965, a
copy of which, I believe, you have all received.
I would like to supplement that statement with
a general description of the purposes and the
activities of the Colony Development Company.

Colony Development Company has been organ-
ized by The Standard Oil Company (Ohio), the
Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company and The oil Shale
Corporation to act as a corporate agent for the
purpose of developing certain oil shale lands
under purchase option from the Dow Chemical
Company. These lands are located at the junc-
t~onof Middle Fork and East Middle Fork of
Parachute Creek in Garfield County, Colorado.

The planned development consists of two
phases; the first phase which has already been
committed, is the construction and operation
