Flood mitigation <br /> <br />Four of the five program elements have been widely used, while one of the elements will be utilized for pilot study <br />work regarding low-cost satellite photography using state-of-the-art equipment from a Longmont-based firm. <br /> <br />The Flood Response Program is put into action as necessary when flooding occurs and/or when the need for studies <br />or projects related to flooding is prudent and supported by local officials. The board is providing [mancial and <br />technical assistance to the City of Alamosa, Colorado related to verifying the HEC - RAS model developed and <br />ensuring the levee system. Community Visits and Online Services <br /> <br />For the purposes of completion of various programmatic requirements and in response to the flood threat, staff have <br />completed a number of visits to communities around the state to discuss the current flood threat and assist the local <br />communities in preparing for potential high runoff in Colorado in at least eight years. Visits have generally <br />involved field observations, and local officials met with generally will include some or all of the following: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Local Floodplain Administrators <br />Community Leadership (e.g. city managers, county commissioners, etc.) <br />County Emergency Managers <br />Road and Bridge Supervisors <br />Other loterested Officials and Citizens <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />10 addition, the Flood Protection Section has been active lately in placing online information and services onto the <br />CWCB website.
