This action is recommended in order to meet statutory requirements. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2) Consent Al!enda Item 2.b <br />Floodplain resolution number: FPR 04-580 <br />Affected communities: Hinsdale County <br />Name of study to be formally acted on: "Floodplain Information Report, Hinsdale County" dated <br />September 2004. <br />Studied streams: Numerous streams within unincorporated portions of Hinsdale County <br />Technical Issues: This Floodplain Information Report was authorized by the CWCB by contracting with <br />Love & Associates to complete a supplementary technical report to compliment the existing FEMA Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map for the County. The new information contained within the report, specifically for <br />hydrology, allows the CWCB to properly designate and approve the floodplain information being used by <br />the County for floodplain management and regulatory purposes. Peak flow values were generate using <br />accepted regional regression equations available from the USGS and the CWCB. The majority of the <br />mapped floodplains in the County are approximate, however a detailed study was done previously for <br />portionf, of Lake Fork and Hensen Creek in the vicinity of Lake City. The final report will be delivered to <br />the County and discussed in detail to address any concerns and answer any questions that the local <br />officials may have. <br />Comm :mity response: A letter dated July I, 2004 was transmitted from Hinsdale County to the CWCB <br />formalJ I requesting Board designation and approval of the subject floodplain information. In addition, <br />the County was also contacted by engineers from Love & Associates to discuss the designation process <br />and periinent issues of importance to the County. <br />Staff findings: CWCB staff has determined that the subject 100-year approximate and detailed <br />floodpiain information for the studied stream reaches is conformance with the CWCB's rules and <br />regulations for floodplain designation and approval. The CWCB staff has relied on Love & Associates, <br />under contract to the CWCB, to complete the technical review and analyses for the study.
