STAPLETON:

MR. SPARKS:

. MR. STAPLETON:

I

MR. NELSON:

. "",v....

"That is very possible, Mr. Peterson."

"0. K."

"Mr. Chairman."

"Mr. McCandless."

"This Savery-Pot Hook - we could ask for
appropriations in 1961, is that right?"

"Yes, we could."

"We don't have to wait until the power accum-
ulates - the money from the power?"

"No. We merely borrow against that fund, so
we could ask for money for the Savery-Pot Hook
in 1961. You will notice down here in the lower
column we have 'Congressional authorization'.
Now that is where the feasibility has been com-
pleted and the next step is to have the Congress
authorize the project. So the first step that
has to be accomplished for the Fryingpan-Ark, the
Savery-Pot Hook, and the Closed Basin Drain, is
Conqress10nal authorization. Concurrent with
Congressional authorization you can also ask for
money but you are not too likely to get it."

"You are not asking for any change in the
priority schedule at this time?"

"No. I think that's a matter which the
Board should give constant consideration to in
their respective areas to see what the wishes
are there."

"I'd like to compliment the staff on the
preparation of this document which is most help-
ful, not only to the members of the Board, but
to water users' agencies and boards throughout
the state, to whom I understand a copy will
eventually go. I think it is one of the most
worthwhile projects under Felix's administration
and reflects great credit to the Board."

"Mr. Chairman, regarding the policy Mr.
Sparks has mentioned, I think there should be
some sort of a policy but I wonder if he should
present it in writing to us so that we can know
exactly what it is and we can pass it as an
official, formal policy of the Board. Isn't
that what we should do?"
