<br />" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />employees, has gone into the preparation of the plan in order <br />to meet tight federal deadlines. <br /> <br />Mr. Stanton reported on the status of the Flood Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan for Colorado. With the use of an overhead <br />projector, he reviewed the plan contents and provided a brief <br />overview. Next. he discussed the central issues addressed in <br />the plan. consisting of floodplain management, geOlogic hazard <br />management, dam safety, and emergency preparedness, The <br />problems concerning debris removal were used as an example to <br />show how the 37 recommendations in the plan are structured. <br />The plan has been approved by the Governor and is being printed <br />in the State print shop. Copies of the plan will be furnished <br />to the Board members in the near future. <br /> <br />Mr. Stanton then reported on his study tour of flood <br />control practices in New Zealand and Australia, undertaken in <br />February and March of 1985. The tour was funded through a <br />Winston Churchill Traveling Fellowship. sponsored by the <br />English Speaking Union of the United States. Mr. Stanton plans <br />to prepare a report on the tour over the next several months. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Larry Lang advised the Board members that on May 1, <br />1985. the Colorado Water Conservation Board was the recipient <br />of a national award for excellence in the field of floodplain <br />management by the Association of State Floodplain Managers <br />(ASFPM), with memberShip from all 50 States. The honor was <br />bestowed this year by the ASFPM at its annual conference in New <br />Orleans. Louisiana. The award resulted from the Flood Control <br />and Floodplain Management Section's development of a State <br />procedure and manual for the assessment of the effectiveness of <br />floodplain management programs and activities as administered <br />by State and local entities. <br /> <br />Aqenda Item II - Review of Litiqation <br />(in executive session over lunch) <br /> <br />a.
