A

proposed project was as much for public safety purposes as it

was for the repair and the rehabilitation for an existing

delivery system. Under those circumstances, he noted that it

was difficult to determine whether t~ proposal to line about

4,000 feet of the Uncompahgre Valley~~ Association canal

through the town of Olathe would serve any sIgnifIcant

purpose with respect to improving the delivery of irrigation

water. Considerable discussion ensued among members of the

Board concerning the desirability of obtaining additional

information about the effects of lining 4,000 feet of canal

on the reduction of leakage from the canal relative to the

total amount of leakage which occurts along the canal's 3fr-
mile length. The staff indicated that it did not have

v

available at this time information which would indicate the

relative significance of reducing leakage along the 4,000
feet of the canal which is in the Town of Olathe. It being t/

the consensus among Board members that such information was

desirable before the Board proceeded to act upon the request
rz/
for a feasibility study, Mr. Vand, moer moved, seconded by

L--- .---

Mr. Fetcher, that the Board not act upon the request for

feasibility study until such time as the staff could provide

the requested information. There being no further

discussion, the motion passed on a voice vote.

Mr. McDonald then asked Mr. Ioannides to review for the

Board the proposed feasibility study of the Lamar Canal and

Irrigation Company ...I1f'version~ructure (see Appendix F).
