Administration and Development
The Foundation has hired an administrative assistant, who began April 22, 2003, Carrie
Patrick is a New Zealand native who has worked as a magazine and web site editor, She should be a
great addition to the office,
The Foundation has requested the fourth in a total of five $50,000 draws as stipulated under
the two applicable contracts (the one between the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the
Colorado Water Congress and the other between the Colorado Water Congress and the Colorado
Foundation for Water Education),
The second and third quarter financial statements for the Foundation are provided as an
attachment to this report, The Foundation is currently working on developing budgets for the
upcoming year, as well as a 3-year and 5-year budget.
On April 25, 2003, Executive Director, Karla Brown presented these statements, the annual
report, and the scope of work to the Colorado Water Congress Management and Budget Committee,
as stipulated in our contracts, It was agreed to initiate a process of contract amendment so that
supporting funds couId be transferred directly from the CWCB to the Foundation,

Strategic Planning
On March 8, 2003 the Foundation held its first Board Retreat. The strategic plan developed
as a result of that meeting is attached,

Educational Programs
Attached are the following docwnents summarizing the current and planned educational
activities for the Foundation:

. 2003-2004 Scope of Work,

Upcoming Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Foundation's Board of Trustees will be in Grand Junction, on Friday
June 6, 2003,
