As an over-all observation on what Mr.
Ingles has presented, you may have gathered
from some of the studies that are being done
now in the Arkansas Valley and in the South
Platte, that the State of Colorado is almost
through with building large multipurpose water I
projects. The Narrows and the Two Forks
appear to be the last of any prospective large-
scale ..reservoirs, that we can visualize in
eastern Colorado.

The emphasis in the future must be on
studies and plans now being made for the
Front Range Unit and for the Arkansas
Valley. That is to integrate, as far as
possible, the remaining available water
resources to make them stretch further.
This means conservation practices, conserva-
tion in the truest sense. In this fact must
lie much of the future development in eastern
Colorado.

We see no cause for alarm. We believe
there are sufficient water supplies for the
long-term future if available water supplies
are used in the best possible manner. The
Front Range and the Arkansas studies will
not develop new, large, multipurpose dams.
They will be for the purpose of developing
better use of what we now have. In many cases
building various control structures will per-
mit a better distribution of water. The whole
future of Colorado must look to this field.
Not only in eastern Colorado but in western
Colorado as well, the end of large dam con-
struction is not in the distant future but
in the very immediate future. The question
now is how to make the same water supply
serve a greater population."

"In these days of specialization, we do
specialize on the Board and we do have a
member of our Board who is on the Water
Pollution Control Commission of which Tom
Ten Eyck is the chairman. It is about time
