Twelve feasibility studies with grant contracts totaling almost $100,000 have been financed
through the Board's Feasibility Study Small Grant Fund. Approximately one half of the original
balance in the Feasibility Study Small Grant Fund is currently exhausted.

In 1999 through SB 99-173, the Legislature authorized the Board to set aside $200,000 of
Construction Fund money in a special fund reselVed for feasibility studies for water resources
infrastructure systems projects. The money in the fund is continuously appropriated to the Board for
immediate availability for making small grants to water users to help pay for the costs of preparing
feasibility studies in conformance with the CWCB Construction Fund Guidelines. The fund is
intended to provide flexibility for the Board to make financial resources available in a timely manner
when the legislative approval process would be a significant financial hardship to a borrower.
