Fischer, Denver Water Department <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Colorado's water supplies are limited and the <br />ever-increasing demands for water within the State require that <br />all potential methods to increase these limited supplies be fully <br />investigated and tested prior to the time demands for water <br />exceed the limited supply; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, weather modification is a proven method of increasing <br />water supply but requires uninterrupted and continuous development <br />to improve and perfect its effectiveness; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the widespread benefits of weather modification call <br />for a broad base of financing such activity. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board: <br /> <br />(1) Urges the executive and legislative branches of Colorado <br />government to initiate and support a continuous, long- <br />term weather modification program throughout the State <br />of Colorado including demonstration, operation, research <br />and evaluation phases which shall include a study of the <br />adverse effects on ranching, wildlife and local govern- <br />ment and the costs of mitigating such effects; and <br /> <br />(2) Urges the public officials of Colorado to broaden the <br />base of a continuous weather modification program by <br />securing financing and assistance from the federal <br />government; and <br />
