The desoription (at page 96) of the Gunnison-Arkansas Diversion, <br />and of the Fryingpan-Arkansas and Twin Le.kelt Tunnel diversions (at page <br />94), might be consolidated for olarity and revised for aoouraoy, in ao- <br />oordanoe with the present statu~ of the investigations, whiohalso are in <br />oharge of the regional direotor at Denver. This project contemplates the <br />diversion from the Gunnison River and its tributaries, and frOOt tributar- <br />ies of the Roaring Fork River, of waters not needed for presen~ or pros- <br />peotive future irrigation uses in the local basins of said streams. Pre- <br />sent studies, subjeot to further investigations, disolose the opportuni- <br />ties of diverting an average of 800,000 acre feet annually frail the Gunni- <br />son River and 200,000 aore feet annually from the Roaring Fork tributaries. <br />When the projeot investigations are oompleted, the designs and operating <br />plans are expeoted! to, disol,ose that projeots of benefit to the looal <br />Gunnison Valley will be installed as part of the exportation projeot that <br />separately might prove infeasible or eoonomioally unjustified. Such addi- <br />tional desoription of the Gunnison-Arkansas projeot as may appear in, the <br />final' draft of the Report should be obtained from the Denver regional of- <br />fioe. <br /> <br />48. Senate Dooument 80, 75th Congress, 1st Session, printed June <br />15, 19~7, desoribes the Colorado-Big Thompson exportation projeot and the <br />manner in whioh it shall be operated to preserve the vested and future <br />rights in irrigation; to preserve the fishing and reoreational faoilities <br />and soenio attraotions of Grand Lake and Rooky Mountain National Park; to <br />maintain the oonditions of river flow for the benefit of looal domestio <br />uselJ, and sanitaT",f purposes; and to so oonserve and make use of the waters <br />for irrigation, power, industrial development, and other purposes, as to <br />ore ate the greatest benefits. Colorado suggests that the Report be &mend- <br />ed to show, that appropriate understandings are oontemplated between re- <br />presentatives of both exporting and importing basins, in oonneotion with <br />all major projeots designed and operated for exporting waters of the Colo- <br />~rado River system for use in the Rio Grande, Arkansas, and South Platte <br />river basins in Colorado. <br /> <br />49. Summarizing the foregoing data oonoerning exportation projeots <br />in Colorado, the estimates of the Report and of Colorado engineers are as <br />follows: <br />
